Nothing Like the Son

You see the world through the eyes of your father and your country... what if both abandon you? Ray is seventeen and homeless in Tampa - as his mother is forced to return to Puerto Rico just before Hurricane Maria devastates the island. Ray finds shelter and an unorthodox father-figure when he shares a motel room with a recovering addict with a tragically comic world-view.

Inspired by real life events, NOTHING LIKE THE SON is the coming-of-age story of Ray Bracero who survives his Senior year of high school alone and homeless, when his single mother is forced to return to Puerto Rico just before the devastating hurricanes of 2017.

Ray battles issues beyond what most high school kids deal with... Ray survives violence, homelessness, and love.

When Ray was child, his father abandoned the family. Ray entertains cinematic, imaginative fantasies showing his father as a heroic figure who will, someday, return to him.

For now, as the hurricanes barrel down, Ray faces the physical and personal storms alone.

Ray forms an unexpected father/son relationship with Jack, another survivor, a recovering addict who faces challenges with humor and an unorthodox wisdom.

Jack will be played by Michael Keaton who is also an Executive Producer on the film.

Written and Directed by Eric Fleming.
